Coastline College’s Building Codes program provides comprehensive education and training in the regulations, standards, and technical principles that govern the construction and inspection of residential and commercial buildings.

Taught by experienced professionals in the field, the curriculum addresses the structural, mechanical, and technical aspects of construction, including building, plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning codes, as well as related state and local laws. Students also gain familiarity with standards and certification requirements associated with the International Conference of Building Officials, the International Code Council, and California building codes. Through applied instruction and preparation for relevant examinations and professional certifications, the program equips students with the technical knowledge and regulatory understanding needed to pursue employment in building inspection, plans examination, code enforcement, construction compliance, and related public- and private-sector occupations.

Building Codes Inspection, Associate of Science Degree
Coastline's Building Codes Inspection program (BCI) is a comprehensive program taught by experts in the field that covers the structural, mechanical, and technical aspects of construction; building, plumbing, electrical, heating, and air conditioning codes; and related laws. International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO), International Code Council (ICC), and California Code exams and licenses are covered to prepare students for employment in residential, commercial, and code enforcement.

Coastline's Building Codes and Inspection (BCI) program provides expert-led instruction in construction methods, building systems, and applicable codes and regulations. Students gain preparation for ICC, California Code, and related exams, supporting careers in inspection, plan review, and code compliance.
