Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense
Coastline College has been designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) since 2014 through the National Security Agency as part of the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) program. Our cybersecurity curriculum incorporates nationally recognized cybersecurity knowledge and workforce competencies, providing students with hands-on skills and technical preparation for careers in cybersecurity, networking, and related technology fields.
Coastline College's GenCyber Teachers Summer Camp in Garden Grove, California, provided a weeklong cybersecurity learning experience for high school teachers, counselors, and librarians. The program focused on cybersecurity education and career pathways, giving participants opportunities to engage with cybersecurity professionals, explore real-world cyber scenarios, and learn more about careers in the field.
Throughout the week, educators developed cybersecurity lessons and resources they could bring back to their schools and classrooms. The camp concluded with participants presenting their newly developed lessons, which were expected to reach more than 3,200 K–12 students during the following academic year.

Coastline College’s 2021 GenCyber Girls Summer Camp introduced students to cybersecurity through a focus on law enforcement and digital forensics. Throughout the week, campers gained hands-on experience examining digital evidence with forensic tools while learning how cybersecurity skills are applied to real-world investigations.
Guest speakers from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies helped students explore cybersecurity, digital forensics, and law enforcement career pathways. The camp also reflected Coastline’s continued commitment to outreach activities that introduce students to cybersecurity careers and connect them with professionals working in the field.
