The Homeland Security Department prepares students for rewarding careers dedicated to protecting people, communities, and critical infrastructure. Whether your passion is serving in law enforcement, emergency management, public safety, or other homeland security professions, you'll develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to help prevent, respond to, and recover from today's complex public safety challenges.
The department offers two career-focused programs:
- Criminal Justice equips students with a strong foundation in the criminal justice system, including law enforcement, corrections, the courts, ethics, and public service. Graduates are prepared for careers in policing, corrections, probation, security, and related fields, or to continue their education toward advanced degrees.
- Emergency Management prepares students to plan for, respond to, and recover from natural disasters, public health emergencies, and other critical incidents. Students gain experience in emergency planning, disaster response, resource coordination, and crisis management through classroom instruction and hands-on training.
Coastline College emphasizes real-world learning that prepares students for success. Through experienced faculty, industry-relevant curriculum, and immersive learning opportunities—including our state-of-the-art Emergency Operations Center and computer simulation program for Emergency Management students—you'll graduate ready to serve your community and make a meaningful impact in the homeland security field.
