
Extended Opportunity Programs & Services (EOPS)
EOPS is designed to help underserved, at-promise students from low-income backgrounds achieve their academic and personal goals - whether it be earning a certificate, associate's degree, or transferring to a four-year university. Under the EOPS umbrella we also have two other programs: CARE and NextUp.

What is CARE?
Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) Program is a supplemental program to EOPS that is designed to provide the extra help a single parent may need to achieve their academic and career goals.
What is NextUp?
NextUp is a supplemental program housed within EOPS. It is designed to provide support services and other resources, including direct aid to current and former foster youth.

EOPS & CalWORKS Counseling & Support
We invite EOPS and CalWORKS students to join for virtual student hours hosted Wednesdays 5:00 - 6:00 PM via Zoom. Drop in and ask questions or just say hello to familiar faces! We'd love to see you.

- October: 10/4, 10/11, 10/18, 10/25

Who qualifies?

Students must:
- Be a California resident or meet AB540/California Dream Act Requirements.
- Be enrolled in at least 12 or more units at the time of acceptance into EOPS and have to earn a certificate, associate's degree or transfer.
- Have completed less than 45 degree-applicable units.
- Qualify for the California College Promise Grant (formerly BOG Fee Waiver) with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $0.
- Be considered educationally underserved (determined by EOPS).

Students must:
- Be a single parent with a child or children and currently receiving CalWORKs/TANF.

Students must:
- Be a California resident or meet AB540/California Dream Act Requirements.
- Be a current or former foster youth in California whose dependency was established or continued by the court on or after the youth's 13th birthday.
- Qualify for the California College Promise Grant (formerly BOG Fee Waiver) with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $0.
- Be no older than 25 years of age at the commencement of any academic year in which she or he participates in NextUp.
- Be enrolled in at least 9 units at the time of acceptance into NextUp.
What does it mean to be educationally underserved?
Students must meet ONE of the following criteria:
- Speak a language other than English at home.
- Be considered first-generation college student (your parents/guardians did not graduate from a 4 year college or university)
- Graduated from high school with a G.P.A below 2.50 on a 4.0 scale
- Current or former foster youth
- Not have graduated from high school or obtained a GED
- Be from an underrepresented group
Please note that meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.
Student Success Completion Grant
Beginning Fall 2023, eligible students with experience in foster care have the opportunity to receive an additional $5,250 per semester through the Student Success Completion Grant.
To be considered for this grant, students must meet the following criteria:
- Foster Care Experience
- Be a current or former foster youth who was in foster care, defined as having court dependency established or continued, at or after the age of 13.
- Enrollment
- Enroll in a minimum of 12 units.
- Cal Grant Eligibility
- Have received the Cal Grant B or C.
- Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards.
- Residency
- Be a California resident or meet requirements for a non-resident tuition exemption.

What happens after I apply?
- The EOPS staff will review your application within five (5) business days and you will be notified of our decision.

Basic Needs Resources
Basic Needs at Coastline College includes food access, housing assistance, mental health services, hygiene products, student success supplies/equipment, transportation, and emergency funding. Basic needs services & resources are coordinated to serve and support students to be successful in your educational journey.
