Is Geology right for you?
Studying Geology is like watching one long episode of "How It's Made" for the Earth. If you're someone who has never connected with other sciences - physics, chemistry, biology, etc. - because they just don't seem to really apply to things you see around you, then Geology may be a good fit. Learn more about earthquakes, volcanoes, glaciers, landslides, mountains, oceans, and more.
Did you know that national and state parks hire geologists? Geologists work in the following areas: environmental protection, environmental remediation, water management, oil and gas, seismic hazard assessment, surveying, volcanic hazard assessment, geotechnical engineering, and mining.
With the environment continuing to be a hot topic, geologists are needed more than ever. And not every geology-related job requires work outside - there are many lab-based jobs and eventual teaching opportunities, too.
