Credit for Prior Learning allows students the opportunity to earn academic credit from training and learning gained outside a traditional college classroom.

Transfer Equivalency System (TES) Articulations
Visit the TES Articulation link to review Coastline articulations to courses from other colleges and the military (American Council on Education).
Requirements to Request CPL
- Student must be currently enrolled at a College in the District.
- Student must be in good standing and meet specified eligibility requirements.
- Course is listed in the college catalog.
- Course is CPL Eligible.
- Student must have at least an abbreviated student education plan on file.

Credit by Exam
- Students must pay course enrollment fee for this option.
- Student cannot be currently enrolled in course that matches the credit by exam course.
Joint Service Transcripts (military credit)
- Visit the Transcripts page for information on submitting official records.
- To view credits that have already been approved from military transcripts, please visit the Transfer Equivalency System page and select the "American Council of Education" institution.
Industry Certification

Student Portfolio
- Students must provide a statement as to why they are seeking credit for prior learning.
- Students must describe how the credit for prior learning meets the course learning objectives.
- Students must submit supporting documentation for faculty review.
