Coastline is a community - a diverse community of learners from different backgrounds. We encourage our students to celebrate their differences, and share their experiences and viewpoints with others. Our variety is our strength.
Taking a cue from Southern California itself, Coastline thrives when students of all types are given the opportunity to succeed. That means that Coastline's campuses are welcoming atmospheres no matter one's race, gender, religion, background, orientation, physical abilities, etc. As an institution of higher learning, we know that good ideas can come from anywhere. Diversity doesn't just make as more open, it makes us better.
Coastline's Diversity, International & Intercultural Work Group encourages the development and implementation of practices that create supportive environments. This allows students, faculty, and staff to embrace their responsibilities as local and global citizens.
The group meets on the first Monday of the month (September - December, February - May) from 3 - 5 p.m. at College Center.
The Intercultural Resource Center seeks to create and nurture an environment that encourages diversity through dialogue, exploration, and community engagement.
Come to the Garden Grove campus, Room 104, to explore your place in the community through: workshops, one on one mentorship sessions, and collaboration with peers. Office hours are:
The IRC is funded by the U.S. Department of Education through the Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISI) Program.
Coastline's commitment to diversity extends to the The Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI) grant. This grant is for institutions with an enrollment that is at least 10% Asian American or Native American Pacific Islander, with a significant percentage of low-income students.
