Mental health services are completely free for enrolled Coastline students, run in-person and via video conference. In addition to individual mental health services we provide training, outreach, mental health awareness and group mental health services which are also conducted online and in person. Our services are available Monday-Friday.

Basic Needs at Coastline College includes food access, housing assistance, mental health services, hygiene products, student success supplies/equipment, transportation, and emergency funding. Basic needs services & resources are coordinated to serve and support students to be successful in your educational journey.

An intake is the first session with your mental health therapist. The therapist will gather the information that will help determine how mental health services can best serve you.
Appointments will be determined by the availability of therapists' and students' needs. We can see students at all four college centers and online via telehealth (online video conferencing) appointments.

At this time, we do not take walk-ins or emergencies after hours. If you need emergency assistance, please call 911 and request an emergency crisis evaluation or go to your nearest emergency room.
Additional crisis resources include Orange County's Crisis Assessment Team (CAT) which provides 24-hour mobile response services to any adult experiencing a behavioral health crisis.

Only students who are active at Coastline College are eligible for mental health services. However, a significant other or family member may attend the student's sessions with the request, permission, and consent of the student only. Appropriate community referrals for couples counseling and/or family counseling will be given when necessary.
Conversations between you and the therapist are private and confidential except in cases where the therapist is obligated to report suspected abuse and/or neglect of a child, elder, or dependent adult or serious threats with a plan to harm self (suicide) or others (homicide).
You may sign a specific written release of information to share verbal or written information with others such as a medical provider, another therapist, etc. Mental health records are not part of student academic records.
