California Civic and Election Dates:
Please note that all active registered voters in California will receive a vote-by-mail ballot for the 2026 General Election. Make sure to register or update your voter registration information as needed using the college student voter registration link.

2026 General Election (November 3, 2026)
- Monday, October 5: No later than this date, county elections officials shall begin mailing each registered voter a vote-by-mail ballot.
- Monday, October 5: Counties offer early voting sites — to find a location and available times, please visit California's early voting webpage.
- Monday, October 19: Last day to register to vote online or by mail ahead of the General Election.
- Tuesday, October 20 – Tuesday, November 3: Same Day Voter Registration is available — voters can “conditionally” register and vote at a county elections office or polling location after the voter registration deadline, up to and including Election Day.
- Tuesday, November 3: General Election — polls are open throughout the state from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.*
*If voting by mail, ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received not later than 7 days after Election Day. To ensure your ballot is postmarked by Election Day make sure to mail it at least five days before Election Day, November 3, 2026. If mailing on Election Day, get a hand-stamped postmark from a postal employee inside a United States Post Office.
All dates can be verified online at the Secretary of State or County election office.

The Orange County Registrar of Voters will be on campus this Fall to share important dates, help you to check your voter registration and register, and share opportunities to get involved in the elections process!
