External Scholarship Recipient Information
Students often receive scholarship funding from outside organizations. Scholarship funds are offered to students with different criteria set forth by the donating organization.
At times, certain scholarship awards require the funds to be issued directly to the college or deposited into a student account. If your scholarship donor requests the funds to be issued to the college and not directly to you, please inform the donor to make the checks payable to "Coastline College" or "CC Foundation." An award letter with stipulations should accompany the scholarship check and include the student's full name and student ID number.
Mail the scholarship check to:
Coastline Community College
ATTN: Foundation
11460 Warner Ave
Fountain Valley, CA 92708
Students must notify the Foundation office of an incoming award, by submitting an External Scholarship Set-Up Form. Please complete and submit the electronic form, then foundation staff will contact you to confirm receipt of the form and for any other steps to follow. Depending on your scholarship award criteria, you may have a variety of services available to you, such as deferred tuition fees, CC Bookstore Voucher, or reimbursement for allowable expenses (such as gas, rent, course materials, tuition) already paid by you out-of-pocket.
How To:
-
How to Defer Tuition / Registration Fees
You are responsible for paying your tuition fees at the time of registration. However, as a courtesy, the Foundation Office may defer your registration fees if you have an incoming scholarship award from an organization other than Coastline.
To have your tuition fees defer, fill out section III of the External Scholarship Service & Reimbursement Request Form. This process is not done automatically by the Foundation Office, to ensure your classes are not dropped, please submit the form prior to your registration date. A foundation staff member will then notify you once the tuition deferral is in place. This form must be submitted before the start of each semester.
Once the semester begins, the Foundation Office will pay your fees directly with your scholarship funds, once the check is deposited and cleared for use. Registration fees covered with scholarship funds are paid starting the fourth week of each semester - no sooner. This provides you a chance to make changes to your schedule the first two weeks of each semester i.e. adding and dropping classes. Taking this step will prevent you from being dropped for non-payment.
-
How to Receive a Bookstore Voucher
If your scholarship allows you to purchase textbooks and course materials, the Foundation Office has the ability to issue a Coastline Bookstore Voucher to you in lieu of payment.
Please complete section III of the External Scholarship Service & Reimbursement Request Form. In the form, please include an estimated cost of the transaction (including tax), under Book Voucher amount requested. Allow 2 business days for processing. You will receive an email with instructions on how to redeem your bookstore voucher.
-
How to be Reimbursed for Educational Expenses
Students who prefer to purchase course materials out-of-pocket or online, may forward their receipts for reimbursement. Please hold on to all original receipts for items purchased in-person at a retailer and/or bookstore. Confirmation emails may be provided however they must clearly reflect method of payment and the student's name in the transaction. Please complete section II of External Scholarship Service & Reimbursement Request Form and upload your receipts . A check will be mailed to the student's address on file within 2-4 weeks.
