An exhibition highlighting artworks and artists of color who cultivate an awareness of equity and diversity in art.
While most of us can live comfortable or at least untroubled lives we have been lately forced to acknowledge the long ignored disjunction in our republic, a fracture in our long-held ideas of equality, in the presumed congruence of the dispensation of justice, and the even distribution of education and opportunity. The artists in this exhibition, however, offer a less frenetic, more contemplative perspective on the republic itself and its relationship to its varied population, where race, culture, and identity tilt unevenly at one another. -Max King Cap, Guest Curator
The exhibition was available for viewing Feb. 1 - 28, 2021 on the Coastline Art Gallery Blog.

Mandate: To acknowledge and celebrate different communities, identities, and perspectives that promote diversity at Coastline College. To bring awareness to racial, socioeconomic, and other forms of social injustices. To ensure that Coastline College is a safe environment to discuss and dialogue about issues that concern our students, staff, and faculty.
Taking a cue from Southern California itself, Coastline thrives when students of all types are given the opportunity to succeed. That means that Coastline's campuses are welcoming atmospheres no matter one's race, gender, religion, background, orientation, physical abilities, etc. As an institution of higher learning, we know that good ideas can come from anywhere. Diversity doesn't just make us more open, it makes us better.
We are dedicated to fostering an inviting and accessible local art community and providing opportunities for interaction between students, artists, art professionals, and the local public. In addition to our exhibition program, Coastline Art Gallery regularly holds opening receptions, artist lectures, artist in residence programs, holiday art sales, summer art workshops and many other art-related events.
