Martin Espino will be presenting his program, Ancient Homelands, of North, Central and South American Indigenous Music. It is 100% interactive, which means Martin will invite you to sing easy sing along in ancient languages of the Americas and play native percussions as well. Join us for an interactive learning experiences and performance that centers the Ancient Music of Mexico and Origins of Mexicanos. The performance involves the audience - of all ages - playing on ancient Mexican instruments!

Students will learn traditional Afro-Cuban dances as Bembé from the Yoruba tradition. Then continue to Rumba where they will learn how to play the clave and a few steps, creating small phrases with a specific song. We will be demonstrating the inseparable relationship between songs, rhythms and dance and also intertwining history and cultural aspects of this dance that has been preserved through generations. The Legendary maestro Lazaro Galarraga and Bobby Wilmore will accompany Kati.
The Latinx Leads Student Leadership Conference is the largest national gathering of Latinx student leaders and campus-based advisors to address the most critical topics of diversity and social justice challenging our Latinx community within colleges and universities. This virtual conference is $250 per person. Up to 5 student & 2 staff may attend.
