What exactly does Transition to Remote mean?
“Transition to remote instruction” means the class is no longer meeting face-to-face. Faculty may use a variety of strategies and tools to maintain instructional continuity. It will not be the same experience as taking an established online class that has already been designed specifically for that purpose. Faculty will provide instructions to students about how their specific section will continue.
The strategies may include but are not limited to:

I am a work-study student. Since Coastline does not allow students to be on campus, will I still get paid for the hours I am unable to work for my Federal Work-Study job?
As Coastline continues to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, all students are not allowed to be on campus for the rest of the spring semester. As a result, you will continue to be paid according to your existing scheduled work hours, until your work-study award is exhausted or further notice whichever comes first. The timesheet should be submitted to your supervisor as scheduled.
Both my parents can't go to work because of coronavirus closure, and they don't get paid if they don't work. This means my financial need has increased. Can I get more financial aid?
On a case-by-case basis, the Financial Aid Administrator has the authority to use their professional judgment to adjust your mom's or dad's (or both) income on your FAFSA. You may get more financial aid as a result. You need to contact Coastline Financial Aid Office for more details.
I am currently attending my classes at Garden Grove campus, but due to coronavirus, all my classes are now moved online, am I going to get less financial aid?
No. If your classes have been moved to an online format, you must continue to participate in the course work and follow your teacher's or professor's instructions to remain eligible for financial aid.
How do I contact the financial aid office since students are not allowed to be on campus?
The Financial Aid Office continues to serve our students via email, phone, or face to face online via Zoom. If you need to contact the Financial Aid Office, email them at financialaid@coastline.edu or contact them at (714) 241-6239. My company has closed because of COVID-19. I'm not making any money and can't pay my student loan bill. Can I stop making payments until I'm working again?
If you're having trouble making payments, contact your loan servicer as soon as possible. You can easily avoid the consequences of delinquency or default by staying in touch with your servicer.
Your loan servicer can provide information about deferment or forbearance options that allow you to temporarily stop making payments on your loans. You may also be able to change to a different repayment plan that would give you a lower monthly payment.
I'm currently on an income-driven repayment plan. I'm making a lot less money because of the coronavirus outbreak and don't know when my income will return to the same level. What can I do?
If you've had a significant change in income, you can ask to have your monthly payment recalculated at any time. Your loan servicer can provide more information.
I took out student loans at Coastline and recently graduated, my loan repayment has just started, but due to coronavirus outbreak and closure at work, I am unable to make a payment. I don't want to be delinquent on my student loans. What should I do?
Coastline College has teamed up with ECMC Solutions to provide you with a resource to help you manage your federal student loan debt and answer any question you may have about your student loans. The resources provided by ECMC are free of charge. Contact ECMC by phone at 1-877-331-3262 or visit their website at www.ecmsolutions.org to connect through email or webchat with one of their counselors. I received an email from BankMobile Disbursements regarding "Important Information About Your Emergency Financial Aid Grant" - what is that about?
Please disregard the email because each higher institution has its process for distributing the CARES fund to the students. Not all students will be eligible for the CARES fund. Coastline College is currently deciding the eligibility criteria as to who will be selected and how the fund will be disbursed. Once the eligibility criteria are established, communication will go out to those students who are eligible to apply. We encourage you to check your emails regularly for updates. If you have any questions regarding your financial aid, please contact Coastline's Financial Aid office.
I will be dropping my course(s) due to COVID-19; do I have other options than receiving a "W" on my transcript. If I drop now, what mark will show on my transcript?
Students who withdraw from their courses(s) due to COVID-19 may request an excused withdrawal (notated as 'EW') on their transcript. This mark will not affect a student's academic progress, academic probation, or ability to repeat a course. The EW does is excluded from GPA calculations.
How do I submit a request for an Excused Withdrawal "EW" due to the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19)?
Students may email CCCAdmissionsOffice@coastline.edu and request an Excused Withdrawal Petition. Complete and return the petition with medical documentation of their illness to CCCAdmissionsOffice@coastline.edu
How long will it take for my request to be processed?
Please allow 3-5 business days for the petition to be reviewed and receive an email response.
What is the deadline to Submit the Excused Withdrawal Petition?
Students may submit the petition up to the end of the semester.
Could there be any consequences to dropping my class(es) with an excused withdrawal "EW"?
Students need to speak with the appropriate departments to understand their individual circumstances concerning degree completion, athletic eligibility, financial aid implications (such as being required to pay back money received through financial aid awards), and other implications not listed. Please contact the appropriate departments with questions and concerns prior to dropping your course(s).
I still have more questions, who can I speak with regarding my individual circumstance?
Please contact Admissions and Records for more information:
ccc.admissionsoffice@coastline.edu
How do I request a Pass/No Pass grading option?
You can request a Pass/No Pass grading option by completing the Pass/No Pass request form.
What is the deadline to submit a Pass/No Pass Request for a 16-week Class?
The deadline to select a Pass/No Pass grading option for Fall 2020 is September 11, 2020, for full-term (16-week). The deadline for all other courses for Fall 2020 is the same date as the Last Date to Drop Without a W. Please refer to your student class program for the specific dates for your classes.
How will this show up on my transcripts?
Students selecting this option will receive a "P" for Pass (Satisfactory Completion) or "NP" for No Pass (Unsatisfactory Completion) grade symbol at the end of the semester.
What happens if I get a No Pass?
Grades of "NP" (No Pass) are considered unsatisfactory and are counted towards progress probation and/or dismissal.
