Introduction to Coastline's International Students Program
Coastline Community College has an international reputation as one of the nation's most innovative institutions. Founded in 1976, Coastline continues to deliver education through technology and comprehensive curriculum. Coastline is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior College of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The college offers degrees and program options, both onsite and through the distance learning formats:
- Courses leading to an A.A. degree
- Lower-division course work that will transfer to a four-year university
- Courses and resources to help students improve levels of basic reading, writing, and computation, including courses for non-English speakers to become proficient in English
The International Student Office provides assistance to meet the diverse needs of the international students in all aspects of college life in the United States.

Area and Climate
Coastline Community College is located in Southern California, an hour's drive from Los Angeles. It is about a twenty-minute drive from John Wayne Airport, located in Orange County. The climate is temperate—an average temperature of 70° F (39° C) year-round. The college is located about twenty to thirty minutes from excellent sunny beaches. Nearby mountains with winter skiing are only about one and one-half hours away. Museums, theaters with live performances, movie theaters, shopping malls, and world-famous tourist attractions such as Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm are just thirty minutes away, and others such as the Wild Animal Park and San Diego Zoo are only a short drive from the college. Many excellent four-year universities and colleges are located close by.
College Life and Coastline
Coastline is located in an area where many different kinds of housing are available - room rentals, apartments, and short-term hotels. The cost for these options varies according to the requirements of the individual students. Students also have the option of using a home stay service that places them in safe home stay rooms. The International Student Office can provide information about this service upon request. Students at Coastline Community College are from diverse cultures and enjoy making friends with students from all over the world. The international student program at Coastline Community College offers students an excellent opportunity to study general education, ESL, and many specific types of programs.
Our virtual online library offers accessible, innovative resources along with personalized help from the librarian. Students are offered the opportunity to make friends with people from other countries. Out-of-class opportunities to meet and talk with typical American students are encouraged. A faculty advisor for international students is available to provide encouragement and assistance with any problems that may arise.
Our main college center provides excellent counseling, administrative, and transfer information. We have a large, new bookstore that has all the books, materials, and supplies necessary for the students to be able to succeed in their college goals. Coastline is well-known for its excellent, caring, professional professors who are eager to help each student succeed. Staff members are friendly and anxious to assist students in all aspects of college life. Assistance is always available to help each individual student attain his/her goals personally and educationally.
