Coastline Community College Foundation Recognizes More than 200 Scholarship Recipients at Awards Ceremony

COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA—MAY 8, 2014—Coastline Community College Foundation celebrated the academic success for their scholarship recipients on Thursday, May 1st, 2014 at their sister college, Orange Coast Community College (OCC). The ceremony was held at Orange Coast Community College, at the Robert Moore Theater to recognize more than 200 students for their academic achievements.

“I am extremely honored to congratulate all of our scholarship recipients,” said Executive Director of Coastline Foundation, Mariam Khosravani. “The Foundation is fortunate to have such wonderful donors who are making a difference in the lives of so many deserving students.”

Coastline recognized 224 scholarship recipients who received a total of $151,300.00 in scholarship funds.

In attendance were Coast Community College District Board of Trustees Members, Mary Hornbuckle, David A. Grant, Jim Moreno, and Lorraine Prinsky, Ph.D.

Donors included Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF), Cocoa-Cola Foundation, Edison International, SchoolsFirst FCU, USA Fund, and The Walmart Foundation.

Coastline Community College President, Dr. Loretta Adrian and Coast Community College District Board of Trustees Members hosted a special appreciation reception for donors and scholars prior to awards ceremony. The Walmart Foundation, APIASF, and The Coca-Cola Foundation were among the donors who were recognized.

Coastline is committed to the academic success of students. Coastline supports students by holding annual scholarships, with donations from the college’s foundation, community donors, and private donors. Recipients are selected by the Scholarship Selection Committee and by Coastline Community College Foundation Board Members. The factors that contribute to awarding applicants scholarships, are financial need, academics, and being involved with the community. When awarding scholarships Coastline looks not only at grades, but also at extracurricular activities. Coastline awards individuals who go beyond learning in the classroom, and who show promise in their future academic endeavors as well.
