Meet the 2013 ACCJC Accreditation Team
Coastline Community College is pleased to welcome the members of our ACCJC accreditation visiting team, who will be on campus Monday, March 18th to Thursday, March 21st.

Appointed Executive Vice President of Santa Monica College in January 2005, Randal Lawson previously served that institution in several administrative positions including Vice President, Academic Affairs; Associate Vice President, Academic Affairs; Administrative Dean, Instruction; Administrative Dean, Academic Personnel; and Dean, Arts Division.
As the chief instructional officer of Santa Monica College, he has led in the development of the curriculum for the successful Academy of Entertainment and Technology, in SMC's offering of a Summer 2006 intersession for Compton Community College (during the time when CCC's accreditation was on the verge of being terminated), in facilitating significant growth in SMC's general instructional program, and in maintaining course offering integrity during the unprecedented reductions in state funding that have occurred from 2009 to the present. He serves as Accreditation Liaison Officer and co-chaired the 1998, 2004, and 2010 accreditation self-study processes.
A member of the Executive Board of the California Community Colleges Chief Instructional Officers organization from 2000-2010, Lawson served as CCCCIO President in 2002-03 and again in 2006-07 and was the 2007-2008 recipient of the Carter Doran Leadership Award. He was also the recipient of the ACCCA Administrative Excellence Award for 2008-2009. A founding member of the System Advisory Committee on Curriculum in 2005, he continues to serve as its co-chair. He is also a member of the ETS (Educational Testing Service) National Community College Advisory Council.
Lawson has achieved statewide recognition for his enrollment management expertise. He has provided enrollment management training through the ACCCA (Association of California Community College Administrators) "Admin 101" program (for five years) and the CCCCIO (California Community Colleges Chief Instructional Officers) "411 Training for New and Aspiring Chief Instructional Officers" (for the last six years), as well as providing enrollment management training for a number of individual California community colleges and college districts. He was invited by the CCC Chancellor's Office to participate in the development of the 2008 Addendum to its Student Attendance Accounting Manual and is a co-author of the recently released Chief Instructional Officers Manual for CCCCIO.
Participating in this Coastline Community College comprehensive visit marks Lawson's ninth experience as a visiting accrediting team member.

Dr. Andrew LaManque is the Executive Director for Institutional Research and Planning for the Foothill De Anza Community College District (FHDA) and President for the Research and Planning Group for California Community Colleges. He joined FHDA in July 2002 as the Supervisor for Institutional Research and Planning at De Anza College.
Prior to joining FHDA he served as Coordinator of Business and Finance Policy for the University of California's Office of the President; Senior Research Analyst in the Provost's Office at the University of Maryland College Park; and Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Instruction at Mohawk Valley Community College in Upstate New York.
Andrew received his Bachelor's in Finance from SUNY Geneseo, Master's degrees in Public Sector Economics and in School Finance from SUNY Albany and his Ph.D. in Education Policy, Politics, and Law also from SUNY Albany.

Dr. Perry began her tenure as Superintendent/President of Butte-Glenn Community College District in July 2011. Kim's immediate past position was as the Vice President, Academic Affairs at Los Angeles City College. Prior to that position she served 6 years as the Vice President of Instruction at Reedley College located in Reedley, CA. Her tenure at Reedley College began as a Dean of Instruction with responsibilities in the areas of Career Technical Education, the International Student Exchange Program and state and federal grants dealing with workforce development. Kim began her career in education as a high school agriculture and natural resources instructor in Fremont, California. She has also been a lecturer at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in Agricultural Education; a continuing education specialist for University of California, Davis University Extension; the specialist in Agricultural and Natural Resources at the California Community College Chancellor's Office; the California State Biotechnology ED>Net Director; and the Vocational Education Services Dean at the California Community College Chancellor's Office.
Kim received her Ed. D. in May 2010 in Higher Education Administration and Leadership with a Community College Emphasis from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. The focus of her thesis was The Use of Technology in Relation to Community College Faculty Characteristics and Instructional Environments.
Dr. Ian Walton

Ian Walton retired in 2011 after 33 years full-time teaching mathematics at Mission College in Santa Clara, CA. He received the system Hayward Award for Excellence in Education in 2011, the Vasconcellos Advocate Award in 2007 and the CCC Technology Leadership Award in 2006. He currently works on a variety of state and national projects including several accreditation site visits, and the first ever Aspen Prize for community colleges.
Ian grew up in Scotland and has a bachelor's degree in Pure Mathematics from the University of St. Andrews. He came to California as a Fulbright scholar in 1973 and has a Ph.D. in Differential Equations from University of California at Santa Cruz.
Ian served college leadership roles as division chair and in his local union and academic senate. He also served ten years on the Executive Committee of the statewide Academic Senate for California Community Colleges (ASCCC) and was President for 2005 – 07. Particular issues of significance included the graduation competencies in math and English and initiating the system Basic Skills Initiative.
In his spare time he sings depressing Celtic ballads and leads sea kayak trips to Alaska for the national Sierra Club.
