Welcome to Student Advisory Council!
Welcome to Coastline's student government, The Student Advisory Council, is unique in the state. Any Coastline student who registers for the Leadership 140 class is automatically a part of student government. This allows for diverse representation and a platform for the wide-ranging needs of Coastline's student population.
As members of the Student Advisory Council, students participate in the following:
- Weekly student government meetings
- Weekly/monthly standing college committee meetings
- Communication flows from administration to students and students to administration
- Developing acceptable liaison protocols to other college stakeholders
- Planning and staging college-wide activities
- Overseeing College Service Fee budget
- Conducting student surveys
The leadership course is designed to introduce or continue development in understanding the concepts, styles, and practices of leadership. It explores attributes and characteristics of leaders, processes that leaders use to accomplish goals, leadership motivational strategies and enabling techniques, and organizational culture, and challenges students to understand how leaders directly and indirectly influence an organization's behavior and efficiency. The Student Advisory Council elects officers from its membership and holds weekly meetings. Its by-laws were developed by the Council and reflect the governing structure desired by the students. They participate in college events and plan events for the students of Coastline.
The members of the Student Advisory Council are the students that the college looks to as the voice of the students.
